‘Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word’
John 8: 43 (ESV)

Message summary compiled by Esther Njoroge

The whole purpose of hearing is to understand. The Bible says ‘with all your getting of wisdom, get understanding’.

Once you gain understanding, you are able to make use of the information given to you for your benefit.

Seeing Jesus makes no difference for a person who cannot hear His word. Hearing is key.

Jesus in His own country could do no mighty work because of their unbelief. They could not bear to hear His word.

As long as you can hear, there is an opportunity for change regardless of the state you are in.
The power to change is in hearing.

You are blessed because you continue to hear the Word of God. There is growth, maturity, transformation, stability happening to you.

We sometimes value what we do not have instead of valuing what we already have. You have what you need.

Some of the people who saw Jesus while He was here on earth did not value Him.

Be sensitive to the time you are in. Value the Word of God that you hear today.

Do not waste what you have because it is the hearer that benefits.

Hearing entitles you to all the benefits of God.

To hear is to pay close attention to what is being said. To listen and to consider what God is saying, meditate on it and know that it is valuable.

One of the greatest attributes of a good hearer is the ability to hear something again and again and again.

Someone that pays attention when something is said repeatedly, is a good hearer.

Everything in life is repetitive. Eating, sleeping, going to school, work, the rotation and revolving of the earth are all repetitive activities.

Hear it again and again till what you hear begins to work for you. Jesus said “if you continue in my word” meaning we must continue hearing the Word again and again.

What you are looking for in life is in the Word of God. When you tune your mind to enjoy repetition, you become a good hearer.

The reason you do something is because you have heard it.

A good hearer has good memory. We must cultivate the art of hearing.

Jesus connects our productivity to our ability to hear.

Your hearing is an investment into your future both in the natural and in the spiritual.

Our Lord Jesus at the age of 12, sat down for three days hearing the teachers.

Jesus quoted scriptures because He learned by reading and hearing the scriptures.

A good hearer is a good learner.

Hearing and paying close attention to what you hear can soften a hardened heart.

When you apply the Word of God to any profession, you will shine.

The Word of God will transform you if you can hear it. Hearing helps your behaviour and your character

If you can sit, hear, and pay attention, you will see positive change.

Good hearers benefit themselves, their nation, and the world.
